Researchers from the Harvard Computer Society have published a Dialect Survey, which posed 122 questions to citizens across the country to find out things like, "What is your generic term for a sweetened carbonated beverage?" and, "What do you call the little gray creature (that looks like an insect but is actually a crustacean) that rolls up into a ball when you touch it?" (nothing says 'clarity' like a dialect poll)
