Interesting new service from AT&T Wireless

AT&T Wireless has come up with their own solution to the age old problem of "I LOVE THIS SONG ON THE RADIO, WHAT IS IT?!?!"

You simply punch in "#-I-D", then hold the song up to the radio speaker. In about 12 seconds, it will display the name of the song on your cell phone (for $0.99, of course).

This is all very clever, but it really serves to point out how unbelievably primitive broadcast radio remains. It blows my mind that in the 21st century, we STILL have to find radio stations by entering their wavelength frequency. I wish I had this thing the other day when I heard this really cool song on some college radio station. I patiently waited until the DJ came on afterwards, but instead of recapping the songs he played, the whiny barely post-pubescent DJ went into some asinine "comedy" bit.

But, I'm off topic. Anyway, a very clever solution to a problem that really should be fixed much further upstream in the system.
