Natural phenomenon... or aliens?
NewScientist is reporting that one of SETI's telescopes has picked up a signal that could be either a natural phenomemon, or a signal from an alien world.
In other news, I was watching "Star Trek: First Contact" last night, in which Zephram Cochrane's first warp flight occurs on April 5, 2063. That's less than 60 years away... anyone think it's possible?
Update: Wil Wheaton had pretty much the same entry in his blog, complete with the Zephram Cochrane reference!

1. I happened to go to Walgreens the other day because I had an ice cream craving. While there, Walgreens had some video tapes on sale for $3.99 each; "Star Trek: First Contact" was one of them. I bought it.
2. Although the video was packed in a box (I just moved) and the TV was not extremely accessible, I felt the need to wind down with a movie, which I almost decided against because it was so late. I watched ST:FC, the central point of which is contact with an alien species.
3. The next day, I read about the potential alien signal, and linked to it in Ridiculent, along with a reference to Zephram Cochrane, fictional inventor if the warp engine, pivotal character in ST:FC.
4. Later that day, I read a Slashdot post about a new book called "Internet Babylon". Following some of the links, I read a Wikipedia entry about shock sites; one site mentioned had a URL similar to Wil Wheaton's blog.
5. Having not read Wil Wheaton's blog in many months, I decided to surf over there to see what was up.
6. Lo! An entry about the potential alien signal, with a Zephram Cochrane reference.
