Sims play Sims

The Sims in "The Sims 2" can play "The Sims".

I would love to learn about some of the AI behind The Sims. Can anyone point to a good resource?

First off, I want want want want want want that game. Secondly, and this doesn't answer your question, there are some really funny videos and screenshots of development "outtakes" from the games over here at GameSpot.

Search for "Will Wright Interview" for a lot of interesting interviews with the Sims creator... Maybe you'll find some answers.

Via a review I read here, it appears the basic principle behind the Sims' AI is a theory called "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs".

Got the Sims 2... It's absolutely fascinating. It's so relaistic it's almost creepy. I feel like I'm playing a game from the future. (The 3.5 Gigabytes of hard disk space it takes up pack a whole lot of detail).

One of my Sim families had a fire last night. Maxis was evil and/or smart and, unlike the original Sims, won't let you sell/move furniture out of the way when a fire is happening. The fire left one of the Sims was so panicked that she went crazy and got a visit from "The Therapist".
