Belinda Bedekovic, Croatian Keytar Queen
Just in case you needed further proof that the Keytar is never sexy — even if played by a woman in a see-through dress.
If my Croatian pal Mario is reading this, I think you owe the world an explanation...

Star Wars Transformers
Now a post to make David's head explode. First they combined LEGO with Star Wars (even making video games based on the concept), now they've combined Star Wars and Transformers. Check out this Millenium Falcon which splits in two and transforms into (some very abstract versions of) Han Solo and Chewbacca.

Now we just need a computer game involving Star Wars Transformers made out of LEGO. That would be awesome... I think.

What is this?

According to the webpage, Genpets are living, breathing mammals. Ummm, but what the heck are we looking at in this package?

PANCAKES CAN KILL YOU!
This is the best "Details at 10!" type story I've ever seen...
Expired Pancake Mix Can Be Fatal
Well, if you have some pancake mix...
that's 2 years old...
and was stored in a cardboard box...
in a moist environment...
which becomes moldy...
and you actually cook it...
...
and you're allergic to the mold...
PANCAKES CAN KILL YOU!!!
In other news:
If you eat peanuts...
and you're allergic to peanuts...
PEANUTS CAN KILL YOU!

Blue Man Group Musical Toys
As a huge fan of Blue Man Group (seen the show 3 times), I think it's pretty cool that they've just launched a line of musical toys. One of the best descriptions/explanations I've heard for Blue Man Group's music is that the Blue Men came to earth, fell in love with electronic music, then desperately tried to reproduce it without any understanding of electronics. Hence all the bizarre, and strangely beautiful, analog instruments.
Now the fact that these toys use electronics to simulate the analog instruments, which simulate electronic instruments, seems to convolute the Blue Man aesthetic - nonetheless I'd love to get my hands on these.

Bizarre Japanese English Lesson Video
Yes, it's yet another inexplicably bizarre Japanese video. I guess the premise is that it's part of a system for learning English by associating the phrases to weird dance moves. Which is weird enough, but, with this particular selection of phrases, the weirdosity level just shoots straight up to the the weird-o-sphere.

Diet Coke + Mentos = Awesome
There are currently over 200 videos on YouTube demonstrating what happens when you put Mentos in Diet Coke bottles - in a (made-up) word: FWOOOSH!!! Some mad scientists from a site called EepyBird extended this experiment to its logical conclusion... building an elaborate Bellagio-style fountain rig out of 101 Diet Coke bottles and 523 Mentos. Check out the video, it's one of the coolest things you'll see either today, or in your lifetime - depending on how exciting your life is. Cool soundtrack, too... Thanks to JennyLisa for the tip.

An effect of global warming?
This is interesting: an "SST Anomally" map from the National Hurricane Center showing above and below average current temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean. Maps like this help give some indication about potential tropical storms and hurricanes, which often form in warmer water.
Look at that 5-degree-Celsius above-average reading around Newfoundland - that's 9 degrees Fahrenheit! That's a pretty huge difference, and it's not far from Greenland, where there's a lot of glaciers and ice.
Have you seen An Inconvenient Truth yet?

Collect Call of the Sith
Darth Vader makes a collect call to the Emperor... this is so funny! Done in a Family Guy-like style, I wonder if it's the same writers.

Boing Boing: Bacteria eats chocolate and shits electricity
I just love this headline from BoingBoing:
Bacteria eats chocolate and shits electricity
Tough life for these e colis, huh?
