Nutrition of fast food french fries

The nutritional information above depicts french fries from three major fast food vendors: McDonalds, Wendy's, and Burger King, in that order. Talk about going from bad to worse! The data is from NutritionData.com (they even have a Firefox plugin!)

1.5 Things from the More Fun Sidebar

I just added a new link to the More Fun sidebar: The Show with Ze Frank. Ze Frank is, well, a really smart and funny guy who makes a short daily video just about every day. Like all things worth keeping up with on a daily basis, it involves a lot of insider jokes and lingo, but don't worry, you'll catch on quickly. If not, the site has its own Wiki with everything you need to know. In any case, it's hilarious on a daily basis with very intelligent humor about politics, internet crap, and just about anything else. Bookmark it immediately.

The 0.5 link refers to a repaired link to The Perry Bible Fellowship - an online comic that has nothing to do with bibles, fellowships, or anyone named Perry. What it is, is possibly the funniest online comic I've ever seen. It frequently makes use of jokes that take precisely 2.5 seconds for the punchline to sink in (such as this Voltron take-off) - which are, by far, the best kind of comic there is.

The previous PBF site had a weird layout and hard-to-bookmark URL's. I'm happy to say that creator Nicholas Gurewitch has since drastically improved the site's layout for maximum enjoyment. Again, bookmark it, read it, love it.

The 23 Enigma

Today (August 23rd) is my mother's birthday (Happy Birthday, mom!). Growing up, my family constantly noticed the number 23 popping up everywhere, and we joked about it relating to my mom's birthday. At first I thought this was a spooky magical occurence.

Then, I decided it was probably just a case of coincidentally spotting a few instances, then deciding the number was everywhere - and noticing it more often.

Today, thanks to the magic of Wikipedia, I've learned that I shouldn't have been so dismissive about the whole 23 thing - it's a known phenomena called the 23 Enigma.

[Cue X-Files music.]

Chupacabra, or something else, in Maine?

This animal was found in Maine the other day, after having been hit and killed by a car. Problem is, nobody knows what this animal is. Even crytpozoologists are stumped.

Make your own HP Ad

Check this out, then make your own:

Apparently, everyone who uses an HP is required to dress like Christo in The Truman Show.

Personally, I don't actually have much to say about HP except that the 500 MB (seriously) worth of software required to use my networked HP PhotoSmart "All-in-One" is prone to requiring a full re-install every week or so, and generally irritates the hell out of me.

Cool American Doritos

I just learned something today from my "Unnecessary Consumer Products and Questionable Foodstuffs" Flickr pool. Apparently, "Cool Ranch Doritos" are called "Cool American" Doritos in Europe.

Given the world's current general opinion of America at the moment (moment meaning, oh, 6 years or so), I wonder if Europeans savor a small bit of irony along with their monosodium glutamate while downing these.

Dog Destroys Elvis Presley's $75,000 Teddy Bear

In London, a guard dog "went berzerk" and ripped apart a $900,000 collection of rare teddy bears, including one that belonged to Elvis Presley.

Now, I'm no Dog Whisperer or anything, but I've owned a dog for about 7 years, and I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that it's not a good idea to use a guard dog to protect valuable fuzzy toys...
