Suspicious packages in Boston are High-Tech Graffiti

The news media is abuzz with suspicious packages in Boston. The resulting bomb scares have closed a number of highways for various period of time during the day.

Here's an article that has a picture of one of the devices suspended from a busway. The Boston.com article describes them as "composed of electronic circuit boards with LED lights attached". (And, if this article doesn't cement the conclusion, nothing will)

Fast forward to Flickr, and images tagged GraffitiResearchLab.
Oh, and then there's the Adult Swim ad in its original South Boston location. And this, I suppose, is a close-up of the bugger in question.

So what had originally gotten people thinking that this was a terrorism dry-run might actually be high-tech graffiti.

Here's more from the Grafitti Research Lab. News media should pay especially good attention, so they don't go raising the terror threat to Orange because some kids have thrown LEDs up on a light post.

If a group does something that gets other people's imaginations going and they respond as if it's terrorism, is the group responsible for and liable for that reaction? It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

McNaughts Comet Eyre Peninsula South Australia

Perhaps you've heard about McNaught Comet, which can be seen in the southern hemisphere. Here is a beautiful photo taken of the comet by John White of Australia.

Dogs sitting idly by...

Here's a bizarre article to welcome readers back to Ridiculent after an unintentional hiatus:

Huge python makes a meal of 11 guard dogs

A couple of thoughts:
- I'd hate to enter an eating contest with a python
- So, what were 10 of the dogs doing while one was getting eaten?
- And then, what were 9 dogs doing as they watched the second dog get eaten?
- Were they chihuahuas, German shephards, or great danes?
- So much for pack animals
- "Snakes on a Dog Plane" would not have been an interesting movie - everyone/everydog would have just gotten eaten by a mf'n snake
- Where is this snake now?
- "Six Yorkshire Terriers, Fiiiiive Golden Labs, Four Collie Dogs, Three French Poodles, Two Dobermans, and a guard dog in Malaysia!"
